In 1900, 78 year old Clara Rosen Eisen was an enthusiastic genealogy student at the Rutland Community College of Vermont. As an assignment she wrote of her memories of growing up Jewish in Rutland. This is her story.
He recollections include numerous aspects of her childhood, her family, her education, her home life, and the importance of her Jewish heritage.
A major contribution to this remarkable account are the numerous family and community photographs, as well as a homely touch provided by her Mother’s recipe for Rugelach.
